What this tool does
Count the days from today, or any date you choose, to the next June 1. You fill in these fields: Count from. It shows days until June 1, next June 1, and weeks and days.
Inputs
- Count from: A date. Starts as today's date. Defaults to today. Change it to count from another day.
How to use
- Pick a date for "Count from".
- Read the result: days until June 1, next June 1, and weeks and days. It appears once every required field has a valid value.
Worked examples
Example 1. Inputs:
- Count from: May 31, 2026
Results:
- Days until June 1: 1 day
- Next June 1: Monday, June 1, 2026
- Weeks and days: 0 weeks, 1 day
Example 2. Inputs:
- Count from: June 1, 2026
Results:
- Days until June 1: 0 days
- Next June 1: Monday, June 1, 2026
- Weeks and days: 0 weeks, 0 days
- Note: June 1 is the day you picked, so there are 0 days to go.
How this is worked out: The picked day is itself June 1, so the count is 0 and the date is that same day.
Example 3. Inputs:
- Count from: June 2, 2026
Results:
- Days until June 1: 364 days
- Next June 1: Tuesday, June 1, 2027
- Weeks and days: 52 weeks, 0 days
How this is worked out: June 1 has passed, so the target is 2027-06-01. 2026-06-02 to 2027-06-02 is 365 days (no February 29 between), and June 1 is one day earlier: 365 - 1 = 364.
Example 4. Inputs:
- Count from: October 8, 2026
Results:
- Days until June 1: 236 days
- Next June 1: Tuesday, June 1, 2027
- Weeks and days: 33 weeks, 5 days
How this is worked out: Oct 8 to Oct 31 = 23; Nov 30, Dec 31, Jan 31, Feb 28, Mar 31, Apr 30, May 31 add 30+31+31+28+31+30+31 = 212; plus 1 to reach June 1. 23 + 212 + 1 = 236.
Where this comes from
The next time a month and day comes round. Finds the next time a month and day comes round, on or after the start date. If the start date is that day, there are 0 days to go. A February 29 date is observed on February 28 in a year that is not a leap year. Source: The Gregorian calendar: month lengths and the leap year rule (every fourth year, except century years not divisible by 400).
Limitations
- Counts to June 1 only, each year. An event held on a nearby weekday or weekend instead is not accounted for.
- Counts whole calendar days and ignores time zones and the time of day.
- Uses the Gregorian calendar for every date, for years 1 to 9999.
