How this is worked out: Aug 1, 2026 is past, so the target is 2027-08-01. 2026-10-08 to 2027-10-08 is 365 days; Aug 1 is 68 days earlier than Oct 8 (Aug 1 to Aug 31 = 30, Sep 30, Oct 8 = 8: 30+30+8 = 68). 365 - 68 = 297. Weekday: Jan 1 2027 is a Friday, August 1 is 212 days later (31+28+31+30+31+30+31), 212 mod 7 = 2, Friday + 2 = Sunday.

Example 2. Inputs:

  • Count from: August 1, 2026

Results:

  • Days until August 1: 0 days
  • Next August 1: Saturday, August 1, 2026
  • Weeks and days: 0 weeks, 0 days
  • Note: August 1 is the day you picked, so there are 0 days to go.

How this is worked out: The start date is itself August 1, so the count is 0.

Example 3. Inputs:

Results:

  • Days until August 1: 31 days
  • Next August 1: Saturday, August 1, 2026
  • Weeks and days: 4 weeks, 3 days

How this is worked out: July has 31 days, so July 1 to August 1 is 31 days.

Results:

  • Days until August 1: 1 day
  • Next August 1: Saturday, August 1, 2026
  • Weeks and days: 0 weeks, 1 day

Where this comes from

The next time a month and day comes round. Finds the next time a month and day comes round, on or after the start date. If the start date is that day, there are 0 days to go. A February 29 date is observed on February 28 in a year that is not a leap year. Limitations

  • Counts to August 1 only, each year. An event held on a nearby weekday or weekend instead is not accounted for.
  • Counts whole calendar days and ignores time zones and the time of day.
  • Uses the Gregorian calendar for every date, for years 1 to 9999.
