How this is worked out: Dec 2023 + 2 months = Feb 2024. 2024 is a leap year with 29 days, so day 31 is clamped to Feb 29. Days: 31 (to Jan 31) + 29 (to Feb 29) = 60. Feb 29 2024 is 59 days after Monday Jan 1 2024, 59 mod 7 = 3, so Thursday.

Example 3. Inputs:

  • Start date: March 31, 2023

Results:

  • 2 months from the start date: Wednesday, May 31, 2023
  • Date: May 31, 2023
  • Day of the week: Wednesday
  • Days moved: 61

How this is worked out: Mar 2023 + 2 months = May 2023, which has 31 days, so May 31. Days: 30 (to Apr 30) + 31 (to May 31) = 61. May 31 is day 151 of 2023, 150 days after Sunday Jan 1, 150 mod 7 = 3, so Wednesday.

Example 4. Inputs:

  • Start date: January 1, 2026

Results:

  • 2 months from the start date: Sunday, March 1, 2026
  • Date: March 1, 2026
  • Day of the week: Sunday
  • Days moved: 59

How this is worked out: Years and months are added first, keeping the day of the month or the last day of a shorter month. Weeks and days are then added as whole days. This example is computed from that, which is checked against cases worked by hand.
