  • Start date: December 25, 2023

Results:

  • 14 days from the start date: Monday, January 8, 2024
  • Date: January 8, 2024
  • Day of the week: Monday
  • Days moved: 14

How this is worked out: 25 + 14 = 39, minus 31 days in December = Jan 8, 2024. Jan 1 2024 is a Monday, so Jan 8 is a Monday.

Example 3. Inputs:

  • Start date: February 20, 2024

Results:

  • 14 days from the start date: Tuesday, March 5, 2024
  • Date: March 5, 2024
  • Day of the week: Tuesday
  • Days moved: 14

How this is worked out: 20 + 14 = 34, minus 29 days in February 2024 (leap year) = Mar 5. Feb 29 2024 is 59 days after Monday Jan 1 2024, 59 mod 7 = 3, so Thursday, and Mar 5 is 5 days later, a Tuesday.

Example 4. Inputs:

  • Start date: January 1, 2026

Results:

  • 14 days from the start date: Thursday, January 15, 2026
  • Date: January 15, 2026
  • Day of the week: Thursday
  • Days moved: 14

How this is worked out: Years and months are added first, keeping the day of the month or the last day of a shorter month. Weeks and days are then added as whole days. This example is computed from that, which is checked against cases worked by hand.
