What this tool does
Convert RPM to and from radians per second, degrees per second, revolutions per second and other angular velocity units. Type an amount in revolutions per minute (rpm), choose the units, and the tool converts it to radians per second. It offers 12 angular velocity units and also shows the same amount in the others.
Inputs
- Value: A number.
- From: Choose one from 12 options, including Radian per second, Milliradian per second, Radian per minute, Radian per hour, Degree per second, Degree per minute. Starts as Revolution per minute (rpm).
- To: Choose one of the same 12 units as "From". Starts as Radian per second.
How to use
- Enter the amount you want to convert.
- Choose the unit to convert from and the unit to convert to.
- Read the result: the converted amount and the same amount in the other units. It appears once every required field has a valid value.
Worked examples
Conversions from revolutions per minute (rpm) to radians per second:
- 1 rpm ≈ 0.10472 rad/s
- 5 rpm ≈ 0.523599 rad/s
- 10 rpm ≈ 1.047198 rad/s
- 50 rpm ≈ 5.235988 rad/s
- 100 rpm ≈ 10.471976 rad/s
Multiply the number of revolutions per minute (rpm) by about 0.10472 to get radians per second. The factor follows from exact definitions. It has more digits than fit here, so it is shown rounded.

Limitations
- Converts the unit of a rotation rate only. It does not work out speed, torque or power from it.
- Hertz is a frequency unit and is not listed here. One revolution per second is one cycle per second, so use the revolutions per second entry.
- Revolutions per minute is the same unit as RPM and is listed once.
FAQs
- Q: How do I convert RPM to radians per second?
- A: Multiply by 2 pi and divide by 60. One RPM is 2 pi / 60 radians per second.
- Q: How many degrees per second is one RPM?
- A: Six. One revolution is 360 degrees and a minute is 60 seconds.
- Q: Is RPM the same as hertz?
- A: Not directly. Hertz counts cycles per second, so one revolution per second is one hertz and one RPM is 1/60 hertz. Hertz is not listed here; use revolutions per second.
