How to use

Worked examples

Conversions from megavolts to kilovolts:

  • 1 MV = 1,000 kV
  • 5 MV = 5,000 kV
  • 10 MV = 10,000 kV
  • 50 MV = 50,000 kV
  • 100 MV = 100,000 kV

Multiply the number of megavolts by 1,000 to get kilovolts. Both units are exact definitions, so 1,000 is the exact factor: 1 MV = 1,000 kV.

Limitations

  • Converts the unit of a voltage only. It does not work out voltage from current, resistance or power.

Q: How many kilovolts is one megavolt?
A: One megavolt is 1,000 kilovolts, or 1,000,000 volts. Pick megavolt as the From unit and kilovolt as the To unit to see it for any value.
Q: Can I convert the other way, from kilovolts to megavolts?
A: Yes. Choose kilovolt in the From box and megavolt in the To box. One kilovolt is 0.001 megavolt.
Q: What are abvolts and statvolts?
