Simple Screenshot Capture

Save the visible tab as PNG, or scroll-stitch the entire page into one full-length screenshot. No watermark, no upload.

What is Simple Screenshot Capture

Simple Screenshot Capture is a Chrome extension that saves any browser tab as a PNG image. Free mode captures the visible viewport with Chrome's captureVisibleTab API in a single click. Pro mode auto-scrolls the page and stitches each section together into one tall PNG, so content below the fold is included in the final image. The output is always lossless PNG, suitable for documentation, bug reports, design reference, and archival use. The extension runs entirely in your browser. There is no upload, no watermark, no analytics, and no account requirement.

Key features

**Visible-area capture in one click.** Uses Chrome's native captureVisibleTab API to save the current viewport as a clean PNG. No region drag, no markup tools, no extra UI.

**Full-page scroll-stitch (Pro).** Pro mode scrolls the page automatically and stitches every section together into a single tall PNG that includes content far below the fold.

**Lossless PNG output.** Always saves as PNG, never JPEG. Text stays crisp, colors are exact, and the file works as documentation evidence and design reference.

**No watermark, no upload.** The screenshot is saved directly to your downloads folder with the page title in the filename. Nothing is overlaid and nothing is sent to a server.

**Page title in filename.** The downloaded file is named after the page title, so saved screenshots are searchable and self-describing in your downloads folder.

**Completely offline and private.** All capture and stitching happens locally in your browser. Zero analytics, zero tracking, zero data leaves your machine.

**One-click workflow.** Click the extension icon, pick visible or full-page, and the PNG is in your downloads folder. No region picker, no save dialog, no setup.

**Works on all Chromium browsers.** Compatible with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, Vivaldi, and any other Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome Web Store extensions.

How to take a full-page screenshot

1. Install Simple Screenshot Capture from the Chrome Web Store. It also works on Edge, Brave, Arc, and other Chromium browsers. 2. Open the page you want to capture, whether it is a dashboard, article, design reference, or bug repro. 3. Click the Simple Screenshot Capture icon in your browser toolbar. 4. Choose visible-area for the current viewport, or full-page (Pro) for a scroll-stitched capture that includes everything below the fold. 5. The PNG downloads immediately with the page title as its filename. Drop it into a doc, bug report, or design review.

Who should use this

**Engineers and QA.** Capture bug repros, error states, and console output as crisp PNG. Full-page mode keeps the entire error stack in one image instead of multiple paste-together shots.

**Designers and design auditors.** Save full-page snapshots of websites for moodboards, competitor analysis, and design audits without manual scroll-and-paste workflows.

**Writers and analysts.** Archive long articles, research pages, and reference material as a single tall PNG that can be dropped into notes or shared without losing layout.

**Operations and finance.** Snapshot dashboards, reports, receipts, and confirmations as PNG for audit trails and record-keeping.

**Privacy-conscious users.** If you need a screenshot tool that collects zero data and makes no third-party network requests, Simple Screenshot Capture provides that guarantee.

FAQs

Q: Is Simple Screenshot Capture free? A: Yes. The free version captures the visible viewport as a lossless PNG. The Pro upgrade is a one-time payment (not a subscription) and unlocks full-page scroll-stitch capture for content below the fold.

Q: What is the difference between visible-area and full-page capture? A: Visible-area captures only the part of the page currently in your viewport. Full-page (Pro) scrolls the page automatically and stitches every section into one tall PNG, so the entire page is in a single image.

Q: What format are the screenshots saved in? A: Always lossless PNG. PNG keeps text crisp and colors exact, which is important for documentation, bug evidence, and design reference. JPEG output is intentionally not supported because it would compress and degrade those use cases.

Q: Is my data sent anywhere? A: No. All capture and stitching happens locally in your browser. The extension makes no network requests, has no analytics, and does not require an account.

Q: What browsers are supported? A: Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, Vivaldi, and all Chromium-based browsers. It is not compatible with Firefox or Safari, which use different extension APIs.

Q: Can I capture a specific element or region? A: The extension captures either the visible viewport or the full page. Region or element-only capture is not currently supported, by design, to keep the one-click workflow simple.

Q: Does it work on PDFs or chrome:// pages? A: Most regular web pages are supported. Browser-internal pages (such as chrome:// URLs and the Chrome Web Store itself) cannot be captured because Chrome blocks extensions from accessing them. PDFs viewed in-browser can be captured visible-area but may not scroll-stitch reliably.

Q: Will the screenshot include sticky headers or chat widgets? A: Sticky elements appear once in visible-area captures and may repeat in scroll-stitched full-page captures, depending on how the page implements them. Most modern sites stitch cleanly.
