How this is worked out: Oct 8 to Oct 31 = 23, Nov 30, Dec 31, Jan 31, plus 14 into February: 23+30+31+31+14 = 129. Feb 14 2027: Jan 1 2027 is a Friday, day 45, 44 mod 7 = 2, Fri + 2 = Sunday.

Example 2. Inputs:

  • Count from: February 1, 2026

Results:

  • Days until Valentine’s Day: 13 days
  • Next Valentine’s Day: Saturday, February 14, 2026
  • Weeks and days: 1 week, 6 days

How this is worked out: Feb 1 to Feb 14 is 13 days. Feb 14 2026: Jan 1 is a Thursday, day 45, 44 mod 7 = 2, Thu + 2 = Saturday.

Results:

  • Days until Valentine’s Day: 0 days
  • Next Valentine’s Day: Saturday, February 14, 2026

How this is worked out: Mar 1 2027 to Mar 1 2028 is 366 days because Feb 29 2028 falls between; Feb 14 to Mar 1 2028 is 16 days (15 to Feb 29, plus 1); 366 - 16 = 350.

The next time a month and day comes round. Finds the next time a month and day comes round, on or after the start date. If the start date is that day, there are 0 days to go. A February 29 date is observed on February 28 in a year that is not a leap year.
