What is HEIC and why convert it?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones and iPads running iOS 11 and later. It uses the HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) standard to store images at roughly half the file size of JPG while maintaining the same visual quality.
The problem is compatibility. Windows PCs, many websites, online forms, email attachments, and older software cannot open HEIC files. When you transfer photos from your iPhone to a Windows computer or try to upload them to a site that only accepts JPG or PNG, you hit a wall. This converter solves that instantly.
How the conversion works
This tool decodes the HEIC/HEIF container in your browser, then re-encodes the image data as a standard JPEG file. You can control the output quality from 10% (smallest file size) to 100% (highest quality, largest file).
**All processing happens locally.** Your photos never leave your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server. The conversion uses the heic2any JavaScript library running entirely in your browser.

Privacy and security
This converter runs entirely in your browser. Your photos are processed using JavaScript on your own device and are never sent to any external server. Once you close or refresh the page, all temporary data is cleared from memory.
