What this tool does
Convert angular velocity between degrees per second, radians per second, RPM, and other rotational speed units. Type an amount in degrees per second, choose the units, and the tool converts it to radians per second. It offers 12 angular velocity units and also shows the same amount in the others.
Inputs
- Value: A number.
- From: Choose one from 12 options, including Radian per second, Milliradian per second, Radian per minute, Radian per hour, Degree per second, Degree per minute. Starts as Degree per second.
- To: Choose one of the same 12 units as "From". Starts as Radian per second.
How to use
- Enter the amount you want to convert.
- Choose the unit to convert from and the unit to convert to.
- Read the result: the converted amount and the same amount in the other units. It appears once every required field has a valid value.
Worked examples
Conversions from degrees per second to radians per second:
- 1°/s ≈ 0.0174533 rad/s
- 5°/s ≈ 0.0872665 rad/s
- 10°/s ≈ 0.174533 rad/s
- 50°/s ≈ 0.872665 rad/s
- 100°/s ≈ 1.745329 rad/s
Multiply the number of degrees per second by about 0.0174533 to get radians per second. The factor follows from exact definitions. It has more digits than fit here, so it is shown rounded.

Limitations
- Converts the unit of a rotation rate only. It does not work out speed, torque or power from it.
- Hertz is a frequency unit and is not listed here. One revolution per second is one cycle per second, so use the revolutions per second entry.
- Revolutions per minute is the same unit as RPM and is listed once.
FAQs
- Q: How many revolutions per second is one degree per second?
- A: A full turn is 360 degrees, so one degree per second is 1/360 of a revolution per second. Choose degree per second as From and revolution per second as To to see any value.
- Q: How do I convert degrees per second to RPM?
- A: Divide by 6. A revolution is 360 degrees and a minute is 60 seconds, so 360 / 60 = 6 degrees per second for each RPM.
- Q: Can I convert the other way?
- A: Yes. Pick any unit in the From box and degree per second in the To box.
