Worked examples

Example 1. Inputs:

  • What do you want to find?: Days to date
  • Number of days from today: 30 days
  • Count from: October 8, 2026

Results:

  • 30 days from the start date: Saturday, November 7, 2026
  • Date (year-month-day): 2026-11-07
  • Weeks and days: 4 weeks, 2 days

How this is worked out: Oct 8 + 23 days = Oct 31 (October has 31 days). 30 - 23 = 7 more days gives Nov 7. Weekday: Jan 1, 2026 is a Thursday; Oct 8 is 280 days later (280 = 40 x 7), so Thursday; 30 = 28 + 2 days later is Saturday. 30 = 4 x 7 + 2.

Example 2. Inputs:

  • What do you want to find?: Date to days
  • Date: March 1, 2027
  • Count from: October 8, 2026

Results:

  • Days from the start date: 144 days
  • Date (year-month-day): 2027-03-01
  • Weeks and days: 20 weeks, 4 days

How this is worked out: Oct 8 to Oct 31 = 23, Nov = 30, Dec = 31, Jan = 31, Feb = 28 (2027 is not a leap year), Mar 1 = 1. 23 + 30 + 31 + 31 + 28 + 1 = 144. 144 = 20 x 7 + 4.

Example 3. Inputs:

  • What do you want to find?: Days to date
  • Number of days from today: 0 days
  • Count from: October 8, 2026

Results:

  • 0 days from the start date: Thursday, October 8, 2026
  • Date (year-month-day): 2026-10-08
  • Weeks and days: 0 weeks, 0 days
  • Note: That is the start date itself, so the count is 0 days.

How this is worked out: Reviewer: 0 days from a date is that date. Jan 1, 2026 is a Thursday and Oct 8 is 280 = 40 x 7 days later, so Thursday.

Example 4. Inputs:

  • What do you want to find?: Days to date
  • Number of days from today: 10 days
  • Count from: December 25, 2026

Results:

  • 10 days from the start date: Monday, January 4, 2027
  • Date (year-month-day): 2027-01-04
  • Weeks and days: 1 week, 3 days

How this is worked out: Reviewer: Dec 25 + 6 days = Dec 31, and 4 more gives Jan 4, 2027. Dec 25, 2026 is a Friday (Oct 8 is a Thursday and Dec 25 is 78 = 77 + 1 days later); 10 = 7 + 3 days after a Friday is a Monday. 10 = 1 x 7 + 3.
