Find the exact date 52 weeks from today, or from any start date you choose.

What this tool does

Inputs

  • Start date: A date. Starts as today's date. Defaults to today. Change it to count from another day.

How to use

  1. Pick a date for "Start date".
  2. Read the result: 52 weeks from the start date, date, day of the week, and days moved. It appears once every required field has a valid value.

Worked examples

Example 1. Inputs:

  • Start date: October 8, 2026

Results:

  • 52 weeks from the start date: Thursday, October 7, 2027
  • Date: October 7, 2027
  • Day of the week: Thursday
  • Days moved: 364

How this is worked out: 52 x 7 = 364 days. Oct 8, 2026 to Oct 8, 2027 is 365 days (no Feb 29 between), so 364 days lands one day before: Oct 7, 2027. Oct 8, 2026 is a Thursday and a whole number of weeks keeps the weekday.

Example 2. Inputs:

  • Start date: January 1, 2024

Results:

  • 52 weeks from the start date: Monday, December 30, 2024
  • Date: December 30, 2024
  • Day of the week: Monday
  • Days moved: 364

How this is worked out: 52 x 7 = 364. 2024 is a leap year of 366 days, so 364 days is 2 days short of Jan 1, 2025: Dec 30, 2024. Jan 1, 2024 was a Monday and a whole number of weeks keeps the weekday.

Example 3. Inputs:

  • Start date: March 1, 2025

Results:

  • 52 weeks from the start date: Saturday, February 28, 2026
  • Date: February 28, 2026
  • Day of the week: Saturday
  • Days moved: 364

How this is worked out: 364 days is 1 day short of a year (365 days, Mar 1 2025 to Mar 1 2026, no Feb 29 between): Feb 28, 2026. Jan 1, 2026 is a Thursday; Feb 28 is 58 days later (8 weeks and 2 days), so a Saturday.

Example 4. Inputs:

  • Start date: March 1, 2027

Results:

  • 52 weeks from the start date: Monday, February 28, 2028
  • Date: February 28, 2028
  • Day of the week: Monday
  • Days moved: 364

How this is worked out: Edge, crossing a leap day: Mar 1, 2027 to Mar 1, 2028 is 366 days because Feb 29, 2028 falls between. 364 days is 2 days short of that: Feb 28, 2028. Jan 1, 2027 is a Friday; Mar 1 is 59 days later (8 weeks and 3 days), a Monday, and a whole number of weeks keeps the weekday.

Where this comes from

Add a length of time to a date. Years and months are added first, keeping the day of the month or the last day of a shorter month. Weeks and days are then added as whole days. Source: The Gregorian calendar: month lengths and the leap year rule (every fourth year, except century years not divisible by 400).

Limitations

  • Uses the calendar as it is today (Gregorian), including leap years, for every date.
  • The start date comes from your device's date when the page opens.

FAQs

Q: Does it start counting from today?
A: Yes by default. The start date is filled with today's date when the page opens, and you can change it to any other date.
Q: Is the start day counted?
A: No. The start day is day zero, so the result is exactly the stated amount of time after it.
Q: What day of the week is the result?
A: The weekday of the resulting date is shown beside it.
Q: What happens when the month it lands in is shorter?
A: When months or years are added and the resulting month has no such day, the last day of that month is used. One month after January 31 is the last day of February.
